"The Golden Age of Couture" at the V&A museum... a FREE 1950's dress pattern





In a bid to get everyone making a bit more and to embrace reusing old fabrics, i've offered people over at my little Facebook page a link to a free pattern I found some time ago. The pattern is based upon a 1950's ready-to-wear dress from the couture collection that was displayed at the V&A museum and has been sized for a modern day 10,12 and 14. You can download the pattern and print either on A4 and stick together or take to a print shop to get full size. It comes with full step by step instructions and pictures to help you through.

Perhaps you could try to make this dress too?! I did... it took me a while (but I did french seam the ENTIRE dress! I'll take some photos soon and post them for you all to see.
Maybe you could try to reuse some old fabric for the project, some vintage, an old bed sheet, thin curtains...?
Or come over to my Etsy shop and keep an eye out for some upcycled fabrics... more to come soon!

    I have been looking for this dress pattern all over the internet because the microsite from the V & A museum is expired, I was hoping you still have the pattern downloaded and can post it here. Please help I love this dress!

      Hi Joanna,
      The V&A website no longer list this pattern... i have the cut paper pattern but i'm not sure if I have it still electronically saved :-/ if I find it I will post on here!
