Crochet mad, Abney to join Teal and vintage patterns galore!

Well it's been a little while since my last post, but I can assure you i've been busy being creative as per usual (much to the detriment of the housework...!)

I have been desperate to crochet a jumper/cardigan for the little man of the house. Crochet is a relatively new love of mine - the same joy as with knitting but in half the time and with only one stitch on the hook to worry about!
So, having never embarked upon knitting or crocheting clothes (NEVER EVER) obviously I had to choose a nice simple starting piece...

My attempt at sewing a 50s style dress!

Earlier this month I blogged about a free 1950s pattern that could be downloaded online, courtesy of the V&A museum. I promised that I would take some pictures and post them for all to see...

How to make a funky necklace with old stockings/pantyhose/tights...

Whilst browsing for ideas on the internet of what to make for Christmas presents, I came across this great tutorial for how to make a necklace from an old stocking and some coloured balls!

Need some crafty ideas? Get reading!

There's nothing quite like getting a good craft book and rifling through the pages scanning the pictures for inspiration. I love my books... some of which I have yet to have a go at the projects inside! But I get immense satisfaction from browsing the pages, looking at the pictures and imagining which craft project  i'll be trying my hand at next!

At the moment I can feel the familiar stirring within me; the feeling that I need to try out a new craft soon. And with that in mind I start to scan my books, and my supplies (i.e. the random bags and boxes of overflowing fabric, broken jewellery, fabric flowers, glue, sparkly bits and other miscellaneous items that clutter my little flat...

With that in mind I thought i'd share with you all some books that have caught my eye lately - you can click on the book title for more information...

"The Golden Age of Couture" at the V&A museum... a FREE 1950's dress pattern

In a bid to get everyone making a bit more and to embrace reusing old fabrics, i've offered people over at my little Facebook page a link to a free pattern I found some time ago. The pattern is based upon a 1950's ready-to-wear dress from the couture collection that was displayed at the V&A museum and has been sized for a modern day 10,12 and 14. You can download the pattern and print either on A4 and stick together or take to a print shop to get full size. It comes with full step by step instructions and pictures to help you through.

Loving again - giving a second life to vintage

So here at Revive Revamp Remake you know i'm all about making the most of what we have, reusing and giving life to stuff that has been forgotten. This brings me nicely to the new Vintage Phenomenon that is rapidly taking over the world! With vintage clothing and styling being the new cool I had to discuss it in my blog... after all whilst people are hunting down the next "must have vintage dress" there is one less person buying another mass-produced-soon-to-be-thrown-away piece of clothing.

WooHoo i'm on Facebook... and back to Etsy!

Well... i've certainly been a busy girl these last few weeks!!

I'm gradually adding to my Etsy shop which will include lots of lovely supplies and other goodies that will hopefully inspire you to rethink what you throw away, and to get a bit more 'crafty'! Come and check it out at http://www.etsy.com/shop/ReviveRevampRemake - i'll update on here as soon as my first items hit the shop floor!

So here's some of my projects - Let's get started with The Adventures of Abney & Teal

If you've seen the Cbeebies show The Adventures of Abney & Teal, you'll know what an absolutely delightful programme it is! With the beautiful simplistic approach, homemade look and Toby Dog's folky music to top it off, it's one of my favourite TV programmes that my son likes to watch!

There are 2 main characters: Abney (a cat like boy character) and Teal (a beautiful rag-doll). I just HAD to have a go at making them... so far I've only made Teal. Once I come across some Abney style fabric i'll have a bash at making him too!

So here she is...

I'm a blog newbie... (REALLY?!? in this day and age I hear you cry...!)

Yes I am new to the world of blogging... I guess I felt that there really wasn't a place on the web for my ramblings that would be worthwhile reading. So why am I blogging now...? Well I must stop clogging up Facebook with pictures of my latest "crafty creation"...  so it brings me here - to share a small piece of my crafty, creative, artistic, organised chaos world. I'm hoping that like minded individuals may join me as I share past and new projects and hopefully make some friends along the way! :-)

Anyway... i'm also using my first post to test out this whole new blogging experience...
I'm not sure how it's going to look, so bear with me and hopefully i'll bring something more exciting next time for you to read!
